Oscar Always Listens
Stop-Motion Animated Short FilmOscar Always Listens is my “debut”—for a lack of a better word—stop-motion animated film. Prior to this, my stop-motion animations cut a lot of corners; I would limit the amount of frames than what was actually required and sometimes omit the frame-by-frame structure, which essentially ignores the nature of animation entirely.
This claymation was created during the peak of the Covid-19 lockdown, which happened to coincide with my “what do I want to do with my life” phase and my subsequent two year break from university. With a buttload of art supplies, a very rudimentary idea of a story, an iPhone, and a laptop that was standing on its last leg, I made this with the intention of submitting it for my application to the film program at NYU Tisch.
Despite my very limited resources, I constructed every (with the exception of a few props) aspect of the film by hand. I took over 1000 photos on my iPhone after clearing up space in my photo album, and edited the entire film in iMovie.
Ultimately, I was waitlisted at NYU, but that’s not the point! The point is: you can create anything and make it look pretty stinkin’ good, despite only having an iPhone and a dream!

Sometimes I Just Want to be happy
Sometimes by Alex G - Animated Music VideoSometimes I Just Want To Be Happy is the “official” title of this animation, but it is also the lyrics of chorus of the song itself.
Music is one of my biggest inspirations when it comes to visual art; when I listen to music, I imagine entire scenes or storylines in my head—sort of like a track list in a movie. In general, I naturally tend to visualize all types of audio, or rather, any medium that typically lack a visual component to its body.
This animation is a demonstration of that. I was listening to a lot of Alex G this semester, so his music inevitably leaked into my art.
This project was created for the first project submission in my Animation & Motion Graphics class, a project with minimal guidelines and complete creative freedom. The frames are constructed with digital and analog (paper) frame-by-frame animation as well as a more hands-on approach, utilizing clay and paper cutouts for a three dimensional aspect.
Idiot Savant
Animated Short FilmIdiot Savant is an animated short film I created for my Animation & Motion Graphics course. Every frame and asset is digitally illustrated, then manipulated using the Puppet tool in AfterEffects.
Initially, this was meant to be a much longer short film, but my external hard drive crashed, not once, but twice, and I couldn’t handle another one, so I left it as it was when my drive crashed the second time.
However, despite being unable to actualize my story in its entirety, I am quite happy with how it turned out—and surprisingly—I genuinely love where it ends. Not everything needs to be explained, especially in art, and that’s the beauty of it!
The Grass Is always greener on the other Side
Animated Short ClipThe Grass Is Always Greener On The Other Side is one of the very first animations I have created.
The construction of the frames are very rudimentary because as a beginner, I wanted to keep the frame count as low as possible. Regardless, I remember thoroughly enjoying the process of making this.
The two universes portrayed in this clip are the worlds I imagined to belong to the songs in the video. The first half corresponds to the song ‘Pizza Party’ by Haybaby and the second half belongs to ‘Be Mine’ by Martin Dev. I vividly remember watching a lot of movies during this period of my life, and recall paying extra attention to their music scores and tracklists. So, every song I listened to during this period would result in an imagined world that, I thought, was fitting to the songs I was listening to.
