Idiot Savant
Animated Short Film
December 2024
Idiot Savant is an animated short film created for my Animation & Motion Graphics course. Every frame and asset is digitally illustrated and manipulated using the Puppet tool in After Effects.
This was originally meant to be much longer, but my external hard drive crashed twice, and I left it where it stood. Honestly, I'm happy with how it turned out. I genuinely love where it ends. Not everything needs to be explained, especially in art, and that's the beauty of it.
Sometimes I Just Want to be happy
Animated Music VideoOctober 2024
Sometimes I Just Want To Be Happy is the official title of this animation, and the lyrics of the chorus of the song itself.
Music is one of my biggest inspirations for visual art. When I listen to a song, I naturally visualize entire scenes and storylines, almost like a movie playing in my head. I was listening to a lot of Alex G that semester, and his music inevitably leaked into my art.
Created for my Animation & Motion Graphics class with minimal guidelines and complete creative freedom, the frames combine digital and analog frame-by-frame animation with clay and paper cutouts for a three-dimensional element.
Oscar Always Listens
Stop-Motion Animated Short Film
May 2020
Oscar Always Listens is my debut stop-motion claymation film, made during the peak of Covid-19 lockdown—a period that also happened to be my "what do I want to do with my life" phase and a two-year break from university.
With art supplies, an iPhone, a dying laptop, and a half-baked story idea, I built nearly every aspect of the film by hand, shot 1000+ photos, and edited everything in iMovie—all with the goal of applying to NYU Tisch's film program.
I was waitlisted. But that's not the point. The point is: with just an iPhone and a dream, you can make something pretty stinkin' good.
The Grass Is always greener on the other Side
Animated Short2020
The Grass Is Always Greener On The Other Side is one of the very first animations I ever made. The frames are rudimentary by nature; I was a beginner and kept the frame count intentionally low. Even so, I remember thoroughly enjoying the process.
The two universes in this clip are the worlds I imagined for each song featured. The first half corresponds to "Pizza Party" by Haybaby, and the second belongs to "Be Mine" by Martin Dev. At the time, I was watching a lot of films and paying close attention to their scores and tracklists, and every song I listened to would conjure its own imagined world.
